Simple List 2.1

Simple List is an application that is designed to keep notes, information and general to do memos all in one simple place. The information is in a Hierarchy structure for easy management.

This is totally Freeware so you will not be bugged by annoying dialogs and registration windows.
All I ask is for an E-Mail from you is to tell me if Simple List was useful to you and any future updates you may like to see by registering via the "Online" menu in Simple List.

As Simple List is freeware and I would like to keep adding features to Simple List - if you feel you would like to either buy a Book, Video/DVD or CD, please use the Purchase Item in the "Online" menu of Simple List (or Double Click a book, video or CD in one of your personal lists) as I make a small refferal fee that will help with development costs (and of course you get that Book you have been wanting to buy for ages).

Please either use the Online menu or read the "Simple List 2.1 Feedback" document to send in suggestions, bugs and to register - the registration is so I can tell you of updates and guage how many people use Simple List, you will receive only 1 mail when updates are avaliable (no spam). If you send in a suggestion/bug I will get back to you with a confirmation.

Instructions:
-To create a new Category select "New Category" from the "Item" menu ( cmd-K ) and type in the title for this Category.
-To create a new Item select an item type from the "New Item" sub menu from the "Item" menu and type in the title for this Item.
-To Edit Categories or Items select "Edit Item" from the "Item" menu ( cmd-E ) and type in the new text.
-To Remove Categories or Items, select the item and either press cmd-Delete or select "Delete Item(s)" from the "Item" menu.

-Using the option key when expanding or contracting a category will do either a deep expand or deep contract.
-Using the left and right arrow keys will expand or contract a category.
-Using the up and down arrow keys will select items above or below the current.

- To create a category with the same color as another, when in the color picker hold down the option key while clicking on the color you want (only tested on MacOS 8.5).

Previous Version Notes:
I highly suggest you delete older versions of Simple List once you have run this release. The Preferences of older versions are not compatable with this release. Simple List 2.1 will read in Simple List 1.1 preferences only - creating a new document for you to save straight away. Your older Simple List 1.1 preferences will not be deleted from the preferences folder.

*** Special Memory Note: ***
If your previous Simple List had a lot of items within it, you may run into memory problems when first running the application - which will cause other problems. If you have these problems, please increase the amount of memory by about 100k in the get info window from the Finder. Then delete the "Simple List Preferences 2.0" file from your preferences folder and try again.

To get back your previous notes from Simple List 1.1:
Quit Simple List 2.1 and then delete the "Simple List Preferences 2.0" and/or "Simple List Preferences 2.1" file from your preferences folder and then open Simple List 2.1.

System Requirements:
- PowerPC Macintosh / iMac or compatible computer
- MacOS 8.0 (Should work in previous versions of the MacOS)
- OpenTransport 1.1.1 or higher with TCP/IP support installed
- Internet or any other TCP/IP network connection
- Internet Config in MacOS versions before MacOS 8.5

Memory Notes:
If you get a memory warning - Just quit and increase the amount of memory allocated to Simple List by getting Info on Simple List in the Finder. I suggest about another 100k for a start.

MacOS 8.5/8.6 Notes:
Simple List will send the correct Text Clippings to the Desktop/Finder if the items text is only the url or email address - eg. http://www.something.com or mailto:name@address.com.

Update Notification:
To be notified when an update is available either using the Online menu or read the "Simple List 2.1 Feedback" document.

Bug Reports:
If you find any bugs please let me know by either using the Online menu or following instructions within the "Simple List 2.1 Feedback" document. I need to know exactly what you did to get the bug and the error message.

Rendezvous with Simple List 2.0 Notes:
If you used this application to send me mail, there is a small chance that I may not of received your message. I would be greatful if you would send me the messages again either using the Online menu or by following the instrustions within the "Simple List 2.1 Feedback" document.
