11-5-98

This is a freeware version of the Eudora Internet Mail Server for the
Macintosh, also known as EIMS.

The latest freeware version of EIMS can be found at the FTP site
ftp.eudora.com and at the World Wide Web site http://www.eudora.com.

Information on the commercial version of EIMS can also be found at http://www.eudora.com.

Minimum Requirements

To use EIMS, you must have the following:

* A Macintosh with a 68020 or later processor (Mac II, Mac LC, or better).
* System 7.0 or later.
* MacTCP 2.0.6 or Open Transport 1.1.2 or later.
* Full-time Internet connection.
* Access to DNS.

Installation

To install EIMS, do the following:

1. Double-click the self-extracting archive file.
2. Place the application in the folder of your choice.
3. Double-click the application icon to launch.

Configuration

The first time you run EIMS check the Server Names list on the Preferences Window on the Server menu. To add new names enter them in the edit text region below the list, and click the Add button.

If you are upgrading to EIMS 1.3.1 from an earlier version of MailShare, AIMS, or EIMS 1.1.2,
you should check the timeout and connection number settings for the Ph server from within
the Server Preferences window. It is recommended that a timeout of 120 seconds be used,
and 2 or more Ph connections. Note, you can set the Ph connections to 0 to disable
the Ph server.
